The position taken at the meeting of the Council for Administration of Courts (CAC) held today after the discussion of the state budget strategy for 2022-2025 draws the attention of the Riigikogu and the Government of the Republic to the fact that the reasonable duration of court proceedings will be seriously jeopardised if courts are given considerably more work but no additional resources.

The Supreme Court en banc rejected the petition of the President of the Republic to declare the law being the basis of the mandatory funded pension reform unconstitutional. The reform enables the working-age people to withdraw money from the mandatory pension fund and gives the pensioners the right to terminate the pension contract concluded before 2021 and require a lump sum payment.

Session schedule

The time and place of court sessions are published on the information system of courts and they can be searched for on Riigi Teataja. The time and place of court sessions are published at the times set forth in procedural codes. In administrative court proceedings, the time of a court session is removed from the public webpage after 30 days have passed from the session. In civil court proceedings and criminal proceedings, it is possible to search for sessions held up to seven days ago.

Public e-File

The e-File allows the parties to proceedings and their representatives to participate in civil, administrative, criminal and misdemeanour proceedings electronically. Requests for expedited proceedings of orders for payment in debt and maintenance allowance claims can also be submitted. The parties to proceedings can monitor the progress of the proceedings, receive and submit documents and read the digital court file (in civil and administrative court cases). It is also possible to make queries in the criminal records database via the e-File.

Public judicial decisions are accessible in the electronic Riigi Teataja. Databases make the decision made in administrative, misdemeanour, civil and criminal cases accessible to the public after their enforcement if no restrictions on publication established by law have been set in respect of the decision.
