Tallinn court of appeal commenced its work in the restored Republic of Estonia in the course of the court reform on the 15th of September 1993 in the historical courthouse at Pärnu mnt 7.

Tallinn court of appeal is divided into chambers on the basis of the discussed matters: administrative, criminal and civil chamber.

Tallinn court of appeal reviews the decisions of Tallinn city court, Harju county court, Järva county court, Lääne county court, Pärnu county court, Rapla county court, Saare county court, Pärnu administrative court and Tallinn administrative court by way of appeal proceedings.
